Administrative history

The Zion Church existed in the Foxwarren district from 1888 to 1961. The Zion Church was built in 1888 and was originally a Methodist congregation. In 1925, Zion Church became part of the United Church of Canada. Around 1960, the Zion Church disbanded and its members joined the Foxwarren United Church. A committee was established to care for the Zion cemetery that dates back to 1890.

Custodial history

The records of Zion United Church came to The United Church of Canada Archives-Conference of Manitoba and Northwestern Ontario as part of four transfers of records between 1984-2001.

Scope and content

The records of Zion United Church held at the conference archives include: Records of the Official Board and its Standing Committees (1916-1939); Records of Annual Congregational Meetings and Annual Reports (1925-1961); records pertaining to the Board of Stewards/Trustees and church property (1896-1961); Records of Lay Associations (1935-1961); and reference material (1880-1951).
