History

The Zion Calvin United Church has existed in Darlingford, Manitoba, located in the Rural Municipality of Pembina, since 1966. It was created by the amalgamation of Zion United and Calvin United, and worship was held in the former Calvin United building (formerly Calvin Presbyterian), constructed in 1908. Reverend Donald Smith was the first minister to hold services in Zion Calvin. Once a two-point charge with St. Andrew's United, Pearce, Zion Calvin joined in 1971 with the Morden-Thornhill congregation to form the Pembina Parish Pastoral charge. The Darlingford manse was put up for sale in 1986 and the proceeds were split between Darlingford and Pearce. Following the closures of Pearce and Thornhill, at the time of description, only Zion Calvin United and St. Paul's United Church, Morden remain in the Pembina Parish Pastoral charge.
