History

The Parish of St Chad was formed on 2 June 1963. Services were held in the Lincoln School auditorium. Plans were being developed to begin construction on a church in 1966 when the parish was approached by the newly organized Roman Catholic Parish of Pope John XXIII to consider building a co-operative Christian centre. With each parish facing financial difficulties, the decision to build a joint house of worship made fiscal sense. A sod turning ceremony took place in October 1967. The cornerstone was blessed on Easter Sunday, 1968 and by the end of the year the Assiniboine Christian Centre was completed.
