History

Windsor Park United Church has existed in Winnipeg since 1958. In the fall of 1957, several couples met in the home of Mr. and Mrs. W. Collins to discuss the organization of a United Church in the Windsor Park district. The following year, the Church Extension Council of Winnipeg Presbytery purchased land on the corner of Autumnwood Drive and Cottonwood Road. A temporary building was erected on the site that same year. The Windsor Park congregation was organized under the leadership of Donald Ross and Dr. E. G. D. Freeman. Sunday School services and church services began in the 1958, with the help of a student minister. By the end of the year, Rev. E. G. D. Freeman (the retired Dean of Theology at United College) was appointed as minister and the congregation was officially constituted. In 1961, Rev. Glen Thompson became the first full time minister of Windsor Park United Church. The congregation erected and dedicated a permanent church building in April 1962. The Windsor Park United Church was expanded in 1979 to accommodate the growing congregation. Windsor Park United Church is located at 1062 Autumnwood Drive, Winnipeg, Manitoba.
