Biographical history
The Manitoba and Northwestern Ontario Conference of the Methodist Church mapped out the Whitemouth Methodist Mission in 1895. Initially services were held in the home of Mr. David and Dr. Charlotte Ross until a church building was erected in the community ca. 1900. This church, although officially Presbyterian, was used on alternating Sundays by the Methodists and Anglicans as well. It continued to be a community church until Union in 1925, when it became Whitemouth United Church.
Custodial history
The records of Whitemouth Methodist Mission came to The United Church of Canada Archives-Conference of Manitoba and Northwestern Ontario as part of a transfer of records from the Whitemouth Pastoral charge and from transcribed entries copied in 2002 from Trails to Rails and Highways: A History of the Rural Municipality of Whitemouth.
Scope and content
The surviving records of the Whitemouth Methodist Mission include an annual report dating from 1896, and a transcription of Baptismal entries dating from 1886 to 1901.
