Name of creator
The United Church of Kenora existed in the Ontario community of Kenora from 1917 to 1925. It was a Local Union formed with Knox Presbyterian Church and Zion Methodist Church. When the Zion Methodist Church was destroyed by fire in 1917, the congregation decided to join the Presbyterian Church instead of rebuilding. The Local Union known as The United Church of Kenora came into being on June 19, 1917. The Presbyterian Church, built in 1899, continued to be used for the Union Church. The United Church of Kenora officially joined the United Church of Canada in 1925 to become Knox United Church.
The records of the United Church of Kenora came to The United Church of Canada Archives-Conference of Manitoba and Northwestern Ontario as part of several transfers of records from Rev. R. Stiven in 1984 and from Knox United Church in 2005.
