Histoire administrative

Trinity United Church (II), formerly St. Norbert United Church, has existed in Winnipeg since 1965. Sunday School services were established in the Fort Richmond and St. Norbert area by the late 1950's, but a congregation was not officially established until 1965. Early services of the St. Norbert United Church were held in a one-room schoolhouse south of St. Norbert, in St. Norbert Elementary School, and eventually in Dalhousie School. The congregation called a full time ordained minister in 1971, Rev. Grant Smith. In 1976, the church purchased a piece of land on Summerside Avenue in Fort Richmond. During the construction of their church, the congregation voted to change their name from St. Norbert United to Trinity United. Winnipeg Presbytery approved of their motion, and in November 1978, the congregation formally adopted the name Trinity United Church. The following year, the congregation officially opened and dedicated their new church. Trinity United Church is located at 933 Summerside Avenue, Winnipeg, Manitoba. Note: Trinity United Church (c.1965) has been designated 'II' in order to recognize it as a separate congregation from Trinity United Church (c.1952), which has been designated with 'I'.
