Administrative history

In 1968, the Production staff of the Royal Winnipeg Ballet perfected a lightweight packing and wardrobe system that was named Tourlite. It eventually grew to become its own sales and rental operation. Tourlite Limited was incorporated July 22, 1971. The Directors of the Company were Peter MacDonald, who served as President, Kathleen Richardson, who served as Vice-President, and Martin H. Freedman, who served as Secretary. All three were members of the Royal Winnipeg Ballet Board of Directors during this time. The purpose of the company was, “to buy, sell, either at wholesale or retail, acquire by purchase, lease, exchange or otherwise and to rent, lease, let or hire and generally deal in and with real and personal property of every kind and description”.

Custodial history

The records of Tourlite Limited came to the Royal Winnipeg Ballet Archives as a transfer of records from the RWB Director of Finance.
