Peter Tittenberger was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1952. He attended Garden City Collegiate before enrolling in the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Manitoba. He later graduated from the University of Manitoba with a B.A. in Philosophy. He also undertook undergraduate studies at the University of Winnipeg and York University and post graduate studies at the University of British Columbia. Following a position with the provincial government, Tittenberger enrolled in a photography course at Red River Community College. He was then hired as a staff member of the Western Canadian Pictorial Index at the University of Winnipeg. Shortly thereafter he became the hed photographer in the Media Services Department where he maintained visual records of University events, produced audio-visual materials for lectures, and participated in a variety of University of Winnipeg initiated research projects.
Tittenberger later became the Director of the Learning Technologies Centre and the Advanced Education Technology Developer at the University of Manitoba. He presented at numerous Canadian and international conferences on the role of emerging technologies in learning.
