History

Clark Tippet was born October 5, 1954 in Parsons, Kansas. As a child, he took jazz, tap, ballet and baton classes, but began his professional dance training at the National Academy of Ballet at the age of eleven. After graduation, he joined the American Ballet Theatre. He left in 1978 to perform as a guest artist at companies such as the Cleveland Ballet, the Bat-Dor Dance Company of Israel, and the Western Australian Ballet. He returned to the American Ballet Theatre in December of 1982, but continued to do guest performances. He performed Transitions with Johnna Kirkland for the Royal Winnipeg Ballet in March of 1983. He began a choreographic career in 1986, with his first ballet, Enough Said, for the American Ballet Theatre. He also created ballets for the Pacific Northwest Ballet of Seattle and the Kansas City Ballet. Clark Tippet passed away January 28, 1992 in Parsons, Kansas.
