Name of creator
Terry Thomas was born in Eugene, Oregon on October 14, 1942 and graduated from the University of Oregon’s Drama programme. While he was a student, he performed on a tour of the Orient in 1962 and of Europe in 1965 with the USO. He joined the Royal Winnipeg Ballet as a scholarship student in 1966 and was offered a spot the corps de ballet in 1967. He was promoted to 1st soloist in 1970 and became a Principal dancer in 1974. He also held the position of regisseur from 1972 to 1975. In 1976, he took over the Ann Dirksen Dance Studio in Ames, Iowa, which he renamed the Terry Thomas Dancentre. He operated the school for five years. He served as Artistic Director for the Honolulu City Ballet Company from 1974 to 1979. After his retirement, he was a partner in a landscape and gardening company. Terry Thomas passed away in Kaneohe, Hawaii in 1992.
The records of Terry Thomas came to the Royal Winnipeg Ballet archives as part of a transfer of records from the RWB and the RWB Alumni Association.
