Administrative history

The congregation at Tennyson was established in the 1950s, due in large part to the efforts of Deaconess Eleanor Postans and Bishop's Messenger Miss Gladys Goodacre. Land for a church and cemetery was donated by Annie Johnson of Tennyson. The former Dunara Hall was purchased and moved some one hundred and twenty miles to Tennyson in 1955. The hall was converted to a nave, and a chancel and vestry were added. Archbishop Walter Barfoot dedicated All Hallows Church on 27 November 1957. The parish was served by clergy and Bishop's Messengers based in Eriksdale, and linked to Ashern, St Michael (OW.003), Lily Bay, St Cuthbert (OW.075), Scotch Bay, All Saints (OW.086), and Vogar. By the early 1970s, services had ceased. The building fell into disuse and disrepair. Bishop Valentine secularized the building on 17 October 1975. It was subsequently sold and removed from the site. Messenger Miss Gladys Goodacre helped start up the congregation. Canon RF Dawson, General Missionary at the time, and the Rev Patrick V Lee (later the Rt Rev) in the early years of his ministry, served All Hallows. Two leading members of the congregation were Miss Kathleen Curl, secretary, and Walter Wright, Lay Reader.
