The Syndicate Block located at the southwest corner of Rosser and 7th Street, was designed and constructed by F. J. Chubb during the 1890s. The block was destroyed by fire on January 17th, 1916. Businesses affected included Doig, Rankin & Robertson Limited, Macpherson & Bedford, and the H. W. Ball Company. Four employees from Doig, Rankin & Roberton Limited lost their lives. Their names were Clarence Walker, Miss M. Marsh, Miss S. Eggertson, and Miss C. McCort. The Art Gallery of Southwestern Manitoba is now located at this site.
