Biographical history
Stevens Memorial United Church has existed in the northern Manitoba community of Koostatak, northeast of Hodgson, since 1925. Its predecessor was Fisher River Methodist Church. At Union, it was known as Fisher River United Church. The foundations of this church underwent extensive renovations in the late 1950's. A Christian Education building extension was added in 1964, about the same time that the church was renamed the Stevens Memorial United Church. When the Keewatin Presbytery was formed in 1980, the congregation in Fisher River chose to remain in the Selkirk Presbytery. They did eventually join Keewatin Presbytery as part of the All Native Circle Conference in 1998.
