Administrative history

The area was settled by Yugoslavian, Polish and Ukrainian families beginning in 1908. The first church was built in 1915. In 1938, Shorncilffe was incorporated in the name of the Winnipeg Archdiocese which provided financial assistance to refurbish an unused church. At that time, there were15 families (72 people) of Czech and Polish background. Sacramental records are integrated with those of St. Philip Neri at Arborg. In 1970, consideration was given to closing the church, and by 1980 there had been "no services there for many years." The church was canonically closed in 1998, with any property under the care of Immaculate Conception Parish in Fisher Branch.
