Biographical history
St. Giles United Church existed in Winnipeg from 1925 until 1972. The predecessor of St. Giles United Church was St. Giles Presbyterian Church. St. Giles served as the first Indian and Metis United Church congregation in Winnipeg. The St. Giles United Church congregation disbanded in 1972. Upon closure, the church building was sold to Elmwood Bethel Mennonite Church.
Custodial history
The records of St. Giles United Church came to the conference archives of Manitoba and Northwestern Ontario as part of a transfer of records around 1970.
Scope and content
The surviving records of St. Giles United Church are arranged in the following series: Sacramental Registers, pertaining to Baptisms, 1918-1972, Marriages, 1924-1972, and Burials, 1941-1972; records of the Session, including minutes, 1961-1966; records of the Official Board, including minutes, 1926-1972 (n.i.,); records of Annual Congregational Meetings, 1937-1972; records pertaining to the Committee of Stewards and church property, including minutes and financial reports, 1926-1941; and reference material, including photographs.
