Administrative history

Beginning in 1920, Matheson Island on Lake Winnipeg was visited by the priest from Berens River. In 1940, a church and a rectory were built on Matheson Island, although the sacramental registers were kept at Bloodvein. In 1962, there were 63 Catholics on the island. In 1977, the church was transferred from the Archdiocese to the Matheson Island Community Council. The earliest sacramental records are dated 1920. They are integrated with records from Sacred Heart at Fisher River.
