Springfield Presbyterian Church existed in the Rural Municipality of Springfield, Manitoba from 1880 until 1925. Springfield is the oldest rural municipality in Manitoba, and Springfield Presbyterian Church was one of the oldest rural churches opened in the province. Springfield Presbyterian Church served the districts and villages of Oakbank, Birds Hill, and Suthwyn. Springfield Presbyterian Church joined the United Church of Canada in 1925, becoming Springfield United Church. Springfield United Church later joined Transcona Memorial Church.
The records of Springfield Presbyterian Church came to the conference archives of Manitoba and Northwestern Ontario as part of two transfers of records between 1970 and 1981.
Scope and content
The surviving records of Springfield Presbyterian Church are arranged in the following series: Sacramental Registers, pertaining to Baptisms, 1874-1876, and Marriages, 1874 & 1876; records of the Board of managers, including minutes, 1884-1888; records of Annual Congregational meetings, 1884-1906; and records of lay associations, including the Women's Missionary Society, 1907-1925.
