Seven Oaks General Hospital was founded in 1981 and is an acute care community hospital in Winnipeg, Manitoba. In addition to serving the people of the northwest corner of Winnipeg, Seven Oaks is also the administrative headquarters for the Manitoba Renal Program and a site for comprehensive kidney health services. The hospital has 304 in-patient beds, as well as the second-busiest emergency room in Winnipeg, aboriginal health services, an intensive care unit, lab and diagnostic services, a library, and an oncology clinic. Out-patient services available at Seven Oaks include day surgery, diagnostic imaging, rehabilitation, oncology, and a geriatric day hospital.
In 1996, the Wellness Institute was opened at Seven Oaks General Hospital. This 80 000-square-foot medical fitness facility is mandated to provide the community with services that promote health, prevent illness and disability, and restore wellness. It also hosts health education seminars and outreach programs, children's programming designed to develop interest in physical activity, and a multidisciplinary clinic aimed at treating and preventing workplace injuries.
