Administrative history

Ryerson United Church existed in the Manitoba community of Ryerson from 1925 to 1951. Its predecessor was Ryerson Methodist Church built about 1901. In 1925, Ryerson was part of the Oak Lake Pastoral charge, which also included St. David's. Rev. J.S. Miller was the officiant. In 1930, Brandon Presbytery recommended that Ryerson amalgamate with St. David's to allow Salem to join the charge, but it did not discontinue as a preaching point until about 1938. The church was sold in 1951. A cairn commemorating Ryerson United Church, Ryerson School and the Maskawata Post Office was unveiled on July 29, 1980.

Custodial history

The records of Ryerson United Church came to The United Church of Canada Archives-Conference of Manitoba and Northwestern Ontario as part of a transfer of records from the Oak Lake Pastoral charge on January 29, 1988.

Scope and content

The records of Ryerson United Church held at the conference archives include records of the congregation (1928 - 1940).
