Biographical history

The congregation in Rochedale, Manitoba, located in Shellmouth-Boulton Municipality in northwest Manitoba, began holding services in the Rochedale School in 1913 when the Rev. Stevenson from the Irish Presbyterian Mission arrived in Canada. The communities of Dropmore, Castleavery, Grainsby and Rochedale all held services in local schoolhouses, but none had a church building from 1910, when fire destroyed the Castleavery Church, to 1954, when Dropmore decided to build a church. The four districts supported this church and its Sunday School. Rochedale was associated with Inglis Pastoral charge. Dropmore United Church closed in 1966.

Custodial history

The records of the Rochedale United Church congregation came to The United Church of Canada Archives-Conference of Manitoba and Northwestern Ontario as part of a transfer of records from the Russell-Silverton Pastoral charge in 2001.

Scope and content

The records of the Rochedale United Church congregation held at the conference archives include minutes of congregational meetings and financial records (1927-1941).
