Biographical history

Reg Hawe was born in Craik, Saskatchewan. His professional dance training began in Indiana at the age of twelve. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1943 and after the Second World War he trained with the Winnipeg Ballet Club, dancing with the Company from 1946 to 1950. He returned to Regina in 1951 to teach dance and choreograph at the Regina Conservatory of Music, where he served as Head of the Dance Department from 1951 to 1990. During this time, he also was the Head of the Dance Department at the Okanagan and Fort Qu’Appelle Summer Schools, as well as taught ballet, jazz and movement at the University of Regina’s Drama Department. Reg Hawe passed away on April 3, 1993 in Regina, Saskatchewan.

Custodial history

The records of Reg Hawe came to the Royal Winnipeg Ballet archives as part of a transfer of records from the RWB and were also collected by the Alumni Association.
