The Costume Museum of Canada collection is housed in a purpose built structure that was constructed on donated land at the intersection of Hwy. 15 and 206 in the Manitoba Rural Municipality of Springfield. Sod was turned for the facility in May of 1982 and construction was completed in time for the official opening of the museum in June of 1983. The museum building was designed by Boyle F. Schaffer Architects with Tyndall Development Corporation Ltd. acting as General Contractor.
Scope and content
This series consists of records that pertain to the design and construction of the museum facility as well as the records of major repairs, renovations and extensions.
Immediate source of acquisition
The records of the Museum Construction Project were in no discernable order when accessioned; order has been imposed by the project archivist based on the arrangement suggested by the International Council of Archives Guide to the Archival Care of Architectural Records 19th-20th Centuries. (Paris: ICI, 2000).
