Biographical history

In 1917 it was noted that the choir, under the leadership of Miss Margaret Smellie was "exceptionally good for so small a congregation". In the 1940's the choir was also participating in concerts and minstrel shows. At that time, Mrs. Jean Crittall was the choir director. During the 1950's a quartet often sang at the evening service until these services were discontinued in the 1960's, and quartets and double quartets from Knox Choir would perform at the Lakehead Music Festival. In recent years other instruments began to be used to accompany the choir, and they still continue to perform for services as well as events outside of Knox United Church.
