Custodial history

Record PA95.3.4 was donated to the Sam Waller Museum by J. P. Podbisky Estate, care of J. Podbisky, on the 1st of February, 1995.

Scope and content

The Provincial Building fonds consists of a record book for the Provincial building, serving as a record of work attendance and hours and later shifting to a record of specific work done. The Provincial Building was erected in The Pas as a one-storey facility in 1958 – 1959, with the second floor added in 1969 – 1970. The Provincial Building was the site of the Province of Manitoba’s first administrative headquarters for the North. The building initially housed several departments and branches: health, agriculture, labour, forestry, lands, game & fish, as well as a small tourist information office. The Provincial Building still houses a number of provincial government departments and services including Conservation, Family Services & Housing, Health, Aboriginal & Northern Affairs, Agriculture, Food & Rural Initiatives, and Culture, Heritage & Tourism.
