Robert Prevost was born in Montreal, Quebec in 1927, where he began his theatrical design career with organizations such as Les Compagnons de Saint-Laurent and the Montreal Festival Society. He was the resident designer for the Theatre du Nouveau Monde and staff designer for the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) by 1968. He also designed for the Stratford Festival. His first commission for the Royal Winnipeg Ballet was designing the sets and costumes for The Chinese Nightingale in 1959. He later designed the sets and costumes for A Court Occasion and Rose Latulippe and designed the sets for Meadowlark. He was involved in designing the interior of St. Joseph’s Oratory in Montreal. He is also known for his sculpture work. In 1972, he was made a Member of the Order of Canada and was promoted to Officer in 1978. Robert Prevost passed away on July 5, 1982.
