Administrative history

John Elliott Pool (1923-[1998]) collected records on the Sidney United Church and Ellesmere Sunday School, both in south-west Manitoba. Pool was born to Isabel (Crook) Elliot and Chester Elliott. He married in Evelyn Martha Hay in 1952 and they had children Gregory, Joyce, Scott, Robin. He had been educated at Ellesmere School, after which he attended high school in Austin and McGregor, Manitoba. He received a diploma in agriculture from the University of Manitoba in 1948. Pool served in the Royal Canadian Air Force as an air frame mechanic. Further biographical information is unknown.

Custodial history

Records have been presented to the Carberry Plains Archives in 1992 by John Pool of the Firdale district, Manitoba, and in 1999 by Evelyn Pool of Carberry, Manitoba.

Scope and content

Collection consists of an anonymous photocopied history of the Sidney United Church as well as correspondence and minutes regarding its closure. Includes booklet on Ellesmere Sunday School (1908).
