Name of creator
Petrel School #268 was founded in 1883 to provide educational services to children of the Petrel, Manitoba area. The first school was built in 1884, being replaced in 1918 and closed in 1967 when the Petrel School District became part of the Beautiful Plains School Division. Details of the building itself and its personnel have been published in "Carberry Plains: Century One".
Records have been transferred to the Carberry Plains Archives in 1988 by the Carberry Plains Museum, and in 1990 by persons unknown. Original donor(s) for the 1988 material are unknown.
Scope and content
Fonds consists of 57 daily school attendance registers (1906-1967, missing 1907-1908, 1924), 5 volumes, minute books and cash books (1895-1967), half-year registers (1887-1906 incomplete). Photographs in black in white show students (ca. 1899, 1905). Registers have been indexed for students and teachers.
