Administrative history

The Scouting movement began in 1907, with the first scouts troop in Canada formed in St. Catherines, Ontario in 1908. It was incorporated as “The Boy Scout Association” throughout the Commonwealth in 1912 by a Royal Charter granted from King George V. The scouting movement reached The Pas by 1917, with the introduction of Sea Scout and Rover programmes.

Custodial history

Records PA84.1.1 – PA84.1.6 were donated to the Sam Waller Museum by Mr. John St. Godard on the 30th of November, 1983. Record PA88.9.1 was donated to the Sam Waller Museum by Burns Anderson on the 21st of October, 1988.

Scope and content

Collection consists of correspondence, record books, scrapbooks and clippings regarding scouting activities in The Pas, and the minutes of the founding meeting of the second The Pas Scout Troop, listing members of the committee and election of officers.
