History

Oakbank United Church has existed in the Manitoba community of Oakbank, located 15 km east of Winnipeg, since 1925. Its predecessor was the Sunnyside Presbyterian Church, which later became Oakbank Presbyterian Church. The Presbyterian Church, built in 1882, continued to be used as the United Church. A new church was built in 1964 on Balsalm Crescent by the Sellen Brothers, who were contractors from Oakbank. The new church was dedicated on February 16, 1964, and the old church was demolished in 1969. It was part of the Dugald Pastoral charge until 1994, when it became its own single - point charge.
