Ms. Norma Price was first elected to the Manitoba Legislature as a member of the Progressive Conservative Party on October 11, 1977. Ms. Price served as a cabinet minister in the government of the Hon. Sterling Lyon holding the portfolios of Minister of Labour (1977 - 1978), Minister of Tourism (1978 - 1980) and Minister of Cultural Affairs and Historic Resources (1980 - 1981). She was the only woman elected in 1977 and only the second woman to serve as a cabinet minister in the 111 year history of the Manitoba Legislature. Ms. Price did not stand for re-election and retired from active politics in 1981.
These photographs were donated to the Dugald Costume Museum by Ms. Price in 1988.
Scope and content
The collection consists of: a colour photograph of Ms. Price, ca.1977, wearing the black and white evening gown worn to a formal cabinet dinner held in government house by Lieut. Gov. Bud Jobin; and a black and white photograph of Ms. Price with the Hon. Sterling Lyon, ca.1977.
