Biographical history

Ninga United Church existed in the Manitoba community of Ninga, located northwest of Killarney in the Rural Municipality of Turtle Mountain, from 1925 to 1965. Although there was a Union Church formed with Ninga Presbyterian Church and Ninga Methodist Church in 1922, the Presbyterian congregation reconstituted themselves as a Presbyterian congregation days before the official formation of The United Church of Canada in June of 1925. The Methodist church, built in 1891, continued to be used as the United Church. At Union in 1925, the charge, presided over by Rev. C.C. Whiting, included Rowland and Lyonshall. Lyonshall was dropped as a preaching point in 1954. Desford was also occasionally served by the charge, but was never an official preaching point. The Ninga Pastoral charge did not have their own ordained minister after 1951. The last service held in Ninga United Church was in May of 1965. The congregation was integrated into the Boissevain Pastoral charge.
