History

Murillo United Church existed in Murillo, Ontario from 1925 to 1967. Its predecessor was Murillo Methodist Church which became a Union Church in 1920. At the time of Union, Rev. T.E. Bennett presided over a charge that also included Rosslyn and Kakabecka Falls. Paiponge replaced Rosslyn in 1930, to be joined two years later by Carter's and Slate River. Paiponge sporadically appears as a preaching point until 1942, when it and Carter's are both permanently removed from the charge. The Kam Valley Pastoral charge was created in 1967 from Hymers, South Gillies, Pine Grove, Upsala , Kakabecka Falls and Murillo. Murillo United Church officially closed on June 30, 1967 and the building was sold in 1973.
