Custodial history

The material in this collection was donated to the Daly House Museum by Mrs. Elsie Rutherford in 1987. The material, collected by Mrs. Rutherford, was first brought to the City of Brandon office and subsequently transferred to the Daly House Museum.

Scope and content

The collection contains photographs of Brandon's 1923 flood and of the Brandon Winter Fair building fire in 1920. Also included in the collection are two photographs of a model ship and one photograph of an airplane.

General note

History: Helen Elsie Rutherford (nee Minions) was born at Metcalfe, Carleton County, Ontario in 1902 to parents James and Elizabeth Minions. She lived in Brandon, Manitoba most of her life and worked for 25 years at the Brandon General Hospital. She married Thomas Rutherford (1896-1980) in 1940. Elise Rutherford was a member of Brandon's Central United Church and of Queen Mary Chapter No.3, Order of the Eastern Star. She passed away in 1987 in Brandon.
