Biographical history

In the early 1890s, Methodist services were held at the Sulphur Creek schoolhouse: a church was built in 1908, after which point Methodist ministers served the congregation from Gilbert Plains. The Mount Pleasant Church was the first in the area to close. A meeting was held April 4, 1942, for purpose of discussing disposal of the church property: the building was eventually sold and was used as the Pentecostal Tabernacle at Deer Park.
