Louis Ralph Sherman was born August 26, 1886 in Fredericton, New Brunswick. He was ordained a Deacon December 22, 1912 and a Priest December 21, 1913 in London England. He served as Curate at St. Frideswides, Poplar E. and Notting Hill in England, Priest â in â Charge and Curate at Trinity Church, St. John, New Brunswick, Rector of Holy Trinity and Canon of the Cathedral Church of St. Alban's the Martyr in Toronto, and Rector of the Cathedral Church of the Holy Trinity, Quebec City, Quebec, during which time he also served as Dean of Quebec. He was enthroned as the 2nd Bishop of Calgary on February 27, 1927, and became the 5th Archbishop of Rupert's Land and Fifth Metropolitan of Rupert's Land on May 11, 1943. The Most Rev. Louis Ralph Sherman died July 31, 1953 in Winnipeg, and is buried in St. John's Cathedral Cemetery in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
