Biographical history
Morse Place Methodist Church, also known as People's Methodist Church, existed in Winnipeg from 1909 until 1925. Morse Place (People's) Methodist Church originated in East Kildonan, the district east of Elmwood, in 1909. The congregation built a church structure at 585 London Street, on land donated by Mr. Millman, which was officially opened for public worship on Dec 19, 1909. The church was served by students in its early years of operation and was connected to the All Peoples' Methodist Mission. It is unclear when the name of 'Morse Place Methodist Church' officially replaced the name of 'People's Methodist Church'. Morse Place Methodist Church joined the United Church of Canada in 1925, becoming Morse Place United Church.
Custodial history
The records of Morse Place Methodist Church came to the conference archives of Manitoba and Northwestern Ontario as part of a transfer of records around 1970.
