Biographical history

Helen Irving Muir and Albert A. P. Menzies were married on 21 August 1939 at Fergus, Ontario. Helen Muir wore a gown of point d'esprit over net and taffeta and a French illusion veil. This dress was also worn by Helen and Albert's daughter, Heather Muir Menzies, on the occasion of her marriage to Wayne Arthur Beecroft on 5 July, 1969.

Custodial history

Items in this fonds were donated to the Costume Museum of Canada along with the gown worn by both Helen and Heather in 1997.

Scope and content

Items consist of two photographs. This includes a copy print of a black & white photograph taken of Helen Irving Muir and Albert A. P. Menzies on the occasion of their marriage on 21 August 1939 as well as a newspaper clipping describing the wedding. Also found here is a colour photograph of Heather Muir Menzies on the occasion of her marriage in 1969.
