Notice biographique
Meadow Lea United Church has existed in the Manitoba community of Meadow Lea, northwest of Winnipeg in the Rural Municipality of Woodlands, on SE 1/4 30 - 13 - 2W, since 1925. Its predecessors were Meadow Lea Presbyterian Church and Meadow Lea Methodist Church. The local Methodist congregation had been attending services in Warren since 1911. The Methodist church was sold in 1911, and the building, later used as a granary, was destroyed by fire in 1917. The Presbyterian church continued to be used after Union in 1925. Meadow Lea United Church initially was under the supervision of ministers from Warren. Student ministers came during the summers of 1925 to 1934 to conduct services. In the 1970's, services were held in the Reaburn Heights Community Centre during the winter months. The Warren - Rosser charge began being served by two part - time ministers in 1997, who split up the charge. Under this arrangement, Meadow Lea worshipped with Warren. At the time of description, Meadow Lea continues to be a part of the Warren-Meadow Lea Pastoral charge as part of the Selkirk Presbytery.
