Name of creator
Marge (Weidenhamer) Baron ([192-?]-) is a community volunteer in Carberry, Manitoba. She was born at Deloraine Manitoba. Her parents were Dorothea (Stroud) and Alvin Weidenhamer, and her siblings were Mildred Elizabeth "Beth", Dorothy Olive (deceased), Herbert "Toby", and George. She married Lester Baron in 1948 and they had children Douglas, Dorothy, Brian, Genene. Baron had attended Winnipeg Normal School and taught at Thirlstane, Kirkwood and Carberry School. Further biographical information is unknown.
Records have been presented to the Carberry Plains Archives in 1988 by the Carberry Plains Museum who received them from Marge Baron (accession 1988.38 was received by the Museum in 1985).
Scope and content
Fonds consists of black and white photographs showing two unknown soldiers, Howard F. Baron and Grace J. (Boon) Baron (ca. early 1930's). Textual material includes a Christmas card (1948), other miscellaneous ephemera (1888-1991), Lester Baron's booklets from Manitoba Boys' and Girls' Clubs Member's Note Book, Boys' and Girls' Beef Calf Club Handbook, printed materials from businesses (Reliance Elevator at Melbourne, S. M. McDonald General Merchant at Melbourne, E. F. Davey Merchant, Berry's Hardware, A. R. Calvert Garage). Berry's Hardware calendar includes aerial view of Carberry. Calvert booklet is titled "Happy Motoring".
