Biographical history

The Lake of the Woods Chapel, located in Sioux Narrows, Ontario, was completed in 1969. The United Church, however, established itself in the community long before. A Sunday School was formed in 1946. The first services were held in 1950 in the local schoolhouse and presided over by Reverend Harry Parker. The Lake of the Woods Pastoral charge is made up of Lake of the Woods Chapel and Nestor Falls United Church and is part of the Cambrian Pastoral charge.

Custodial history

The records of the Lake of the Woods Chapel came to The United Church of Canada Archives-Conference of Manitoba and Northwestern Ontario as part of a transfer of records from the Lake of the Woods Pastoral charge. Date of transfer is unknown.

Scope and content

The records of the Lake of the Woods Chapel held at the conference archives include annual reports (1983); financial records (1985); records of the board (1956); correspondence (1957, 1967, 1981); and church histories (1978).
