Administrative history

The Knox United Church was built in McCreary, Manitoba, located sixty-two kilometers north of Neepawa, in 1905 by the local Presbyterian congregation. Knox United was formed when the local Presbyterian and Methodist congregations united in 1925. In 1929, a building committee, comprising of half Board of Managers and half ladies from the W.A. and W.M.S., was organized. Basement foundation and walls were repaired, other walls repaired or refinished, a furnace was added, and the tower completed. A reopening ceremony took place September 23, 1934. When Laurier United Church was closed in 1973, the proceeds were allocated to McCreary's building fund. McCreary's old church was closed in 1978. The congregation used the Catholic Church while their new church was being built. The latter opened March 23, 1979 with the furnishings dedicated one week later. It is part of the Kelwood-McCreary Pastoral Charge.
