Administrative history

Knox Presbyterian Church existed in the northwestern Ontario community of Emo, located directly north of the U.S. state of Minnesota, from 1896 to 1925. The Presbyterian congregation was established in 1896, and a building was requested from Superior Presbytery that same year. In 1902, the mission consisted of Emo, Devlin, Black River, LaVallee, Carpenter, Dobie, and Cook's Mills. By 1907, Black River, LaVallee, and Cook's Mills had been removed from the field. In 1913, Knox Presbyterian Church formed a Local Union with Devlin. In 1925, it officially joined The United Church of Canada to become Knox United Church.

Custodial history

The records of Knox Presbyterian Church came to The United Church of Canada Archives-Conference of Manitoba and Northwestern Ontario as part of a transfer of records from Dave Loney on June 17, 1993.
