Biographical history

Kildonan Methodist Church existed in Winnipeg from 1912 until 1925. The first worship services were held in February 1912 by a student minister in office space provided by Newton Lowery. Sunday school services also commenced in Feb 1912, with an enrolment of 50 children. In the Spring of 1912, construction began on a church for the congregation on land donated by the Lowery Bros. The Kildonan Methodist Church could accommodate 200 people and was officially opened in September 1912. In 1925, a close vote resulted in a decision in favour of union, and Kildonan Methodist Church became Kildonan United Church.
