Administrative history

St Matthew's Mission began in 1952 with services held in the Kelvin School. The congregation purchased the former St Margaret's Church at High Bluff and moved it to Kelvin in 1954. The church, originally built sometime in the late 1850s, was then painted, renovated and rededicated as St Matthew, Kelvin. Services were held twice a month and during its short history, Kelvin was associated with St Luke, Oakville (OW.065) and St George, Westbourne (OW.102). By 1965, services were no longer held at St Matthew. The church and lands were sold to R Tickle in 1966. The proceeds from the sale were turned over to St Luke, Oakville.
