Biographical history

Kathleen (Kate/Katie) Emily Kenner was born December 6, 1903, in Pierson, Manitoba. She grew up in Pierson and lived there with her family, until she moved to Brandon, Manitoba, to attend Brandon Collegiate and then Brandon College as a student in the Music Department. In 1925, Miss. Kenner graduated from Brandon College and from there she went directly to study in the Faculty of Education at the University of Toronto. After her graduation from University of Toronto, Miss. Kenner traveled back West and took up residence in Melfort, Saskatchewan where she taught high school. Kathleen Kenner married William A. Kennedy. They had three children: one son, John Kennedy, and two daughters, Claire (Mrs. Claire H. A. Still) and Janet (Mrs. Janet Sheridan). Kathleen Kennedy died on November 28, 1967 at the age of sixty-four and was buried in Pierson, Manitoba.

Custodial history

The Kathleen Kenner Fonds was donated to the McKee Archives, shortly after its establishment in 1980. Prior custodial history is unknown.

Scope and content

This fonds includes a scrapbook of photographs and memorabilia from Ms. Kenner's student days at Brandon College in the early 1920s, and correspondence with her father, a general merchant in Pierson Manitoba.
