Biographical history

Katherine Collingwood was born July 27, 1952 near Lyndonville, New York. She began her dance training in first grade at a local school, but eventually moved to the Rolann Miller School of Dance and was invited to join the Chautauqua Dance Company. She later attended the Niagara Frontier Ballet Company, later known as The American Classical Ballet for four years, and joined them on a European tour. In 1973, she danced with the National Ballet of Canada for one season before joining the Royal Winnipeg Ballet as a member of the corps de ballet. Shortly afterwards, she began showing signs of ALS and was eventually forced to quit dancing. Katherine Collingwood passed away on July 31, 1980.

Custodial history

The records of Katherine Collingwood came to the Royal Winnipeg Ballet archives as several transfers of records from the RWB and were also collected by members of the Alumni Association.
