Biographical history

Katharina "Kay" Friesen was born on 31 May 1930 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, as the sixth child out of eight, to recent Mennonite immigrants from Russia, Peter J. and Anna Friesen. Kay Friesen served with Mennonite Central Committee (MCC), as a nurse, in Indonesia from 1964-1970.

Custodial history

The materials came into the possesion of Kay's brother, Rudy Friesen of Xavier, Manitoba.

Scope and content

This fonds consists of the letters and reports which Kay Friesen wrote while serving as a nurse with Mennonite Central Committee (MCC) in Indonesia, as well as other materials which she collected related to the work of Mennonite Central Committee in Indonesia and the history of Mennonites in Indonesia.
