Biographical history
John Ogle Anderson was born in Rathwell, MB on November 11, 1912, son of The Ven. Jacob Anderson, D.D. and Edith Alice (More).He attended both St. John's College and the University of Manitoba. J.O. Anderson was ordained Deacon to the Church of God at the Church of the Ascension, Stonewall by the Most Rev Malcolm Taylor Macadam Harding, Archbishop of Rupert's Land on Ascension Day, 6 May, 1936, and ordained Priest in the Church of God, by the Most Rev M.T.M. Harding, Archbishop of Rupert's Land in St John's Cathedral in 1937. He served as the Incumbent of Snowflake from 1937 to 1939; Curate of St. Anne, Wandsworth from 1939 to 1940 and All Saints, Winnipeg from 1940 to 1942. He served in the Canadian Forces from 1942 to 1945. After the war, he became the Rector of St. Aidan, Winnipeg, 1945 to 1949 and then served as Dean and Rector of St. John's Cathedral, Winnipeg from 1949 to 1954. In 1954, he was transferred to Ontario and served as the Dean and Rector of Christ Church Cathedral in Ottawa from 1954 to 1962. He was Consecrated in 1962 as Bishop Suffragan of Rupert's Land. He was then Translated to British Columbia in 1969, and died that same year. He married Agnes Elizabeth and had two children, David and Elizabeth.

Scope and content
The fonds consists of varied secondary material collected by JO Anderson, information on his pectoral cross (1998) and the Opening of the Centennial Concert Hall (1967); photographs and an account by a great nephew pertaining to JO Anderson's war service (2001).
