Biographical history

Jo-Ann Sundermeier was born in Pompano Beach, Florida and began her dance training in Miami, Florida when she was eight years old. She was a student at the Royal Winnipeg Ballet School Professional Division from 1997 to 2002. She won the Prince Edward Award in 2001. After her graduation, she became an apprentice with the Royal Winnipeg Ballet and was promoted to the corps de ballet during the 2004-2005 season. In 2007, she became a second soloist and was promoted to first soloist in 2010 and to Principal dancer in 2012. She left in 2013 to perform with the Smuin Ballet in San Francisco, California, but returned as a Principal Dancer for the Royal Winnipeg Ballet in 2015.

Custodial history

The records of Jo-Ann Sundermeier came to the Royal Winnipeg Ballet archives as part of a transfer of records from the RWB and were also collected by members of the RWB Alumni Association.
